Lau Min states:-

I am employed in the Yee Sang Fat, 34 Queens Road Central.

On the 14th the lady came in with the Consul and wanted to

change some cloth that she had previously bought. We refused

as it was cut up into pieces. Then they asked us for money. We

refused. Then the Consul called us cheaters and swindlers. He

then caught hold of the head salesman of the shop and said

"you cheated me and swindled me" Then the Consul struck the

salesman of the shop with his stick on his forehead. My master

got hold of the stick and in the struggle the stick was broken.

Then the Consul seized him by the collar and my master seized

the Consul by the collar. Then they started to blows. My mates

tried to separate them. They fell over and broke the glass of

a show case. Then an Indian constable came in and we told him

to arrest the Consul. The Indian seized the Consul by the

collar. Then a European constable came in and he motioned the

Indian to let the Consul go. We told the European all that had

happened. The Consul showed his card and the European constable

said that he could not decide the matter but that the parties

had best go up to the station and let the Inspector or Magis-

trate decide the matter. The constable then put his hand on

the Consul's shoulder and moved him out of the shop and let

him and his wife get into chairs and go up to the station

first. We all followed.
